New Spirit of Tasmania vessel arrives in Devonport

Spirit of Tasmania IV has arrived in its home port of Devonport. It was a cause for celebration, following years of delays and cost blowout. The ship is due to start ferrying passengers across Bass Strait in October.

The Tasmania Devils VFL and VFLW sides will play Box Hill at Penguin on the states north west coast this weekend. It's the first and only time the new teams will play in the region in their inaugural season, and the footy mad town is preparing to make the most of the occasion.

The last bank on Tasmania's west coast is shutting its doors in September, leaving local businesses and residents without a bank within 150 kilometres. Bendigo Bank announced it was closing the Queenstown branch in July, along with nine other branches across the country.
Families 'anxious' as main child care provider in Tasmanian town announces closure

The north-west Tasmanian town of Latrobe is set to lose its main child care provider at the end of the year, leaving families without an option. Catholic Education Tasmania announced it would close the centre on Christmas Eve, saying it will be repurposed to support the neighbouring Catholic School.
